Hello all

What would you guys recommend for a beginner to start off? I can spare about $400 and I would like to get at least a controller and some headphones for now.

I've tried searching for info on the internet but a lot of it is really outdated, there's some recommendations for a Hercules RMX but I don't know if that's still a good controller and of course the HDJ 1000s, but not really sure either, there's just not an up to date guide on beginner dj equipment.

Which is why I looked for a forum, hopefully you guys can help me =)

Hmm. About 150 for the hdjs put you back to $250. I would reccomend the torq xponent or the NI kontrol s2. I can vouch for the xponent from experience, and I LOVE it, the software is very user friendly and the controller is well laid out(IMO). I've only heard good things about the s2, but its a bit more pricey. If you can hold off on getting a big pair of headphones, then I would go straight for the s2. If you're set on getting those HDJS, then either wait for the s2 or get the xponent.

check out numark they have a lot of great pieces at a good price
you could also go the akai apc rout and use ableton as your software its a different way to dj but a lot of fun
its up to you do a little research on youtube for certain controllers and software and see what might work
best for you
